2024 National Forum on Earth Observation

Today marks the start of the third National Forum on Earth Observation, organized by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) in co-operation with its federal partners in Earth observation (EO). The forum brings together nearly 500 Canadian stakeholders from industry, academia, Indigenous communities and federal and provincial governments.
This event mobilizes the people and expertise needed to accelerate sustainable innovation, advance science and develop space-based solutions to complex problems here on Earth. Over three days, at CSA headquarters in Longueuil and virtually, participants will be asked to share their unique perspectives on EO in areas such as biodiversity, access to satellite data, the rising importance of artificial intelligence, the Arctic, climate change and co-operation with Indigenous communities. They will share their achievements and initiatives, and discuss next steps to ensure the ongoing enhancement of EO capabilities and co-operation, both nationally and globally.
The themes addressed at the forum are based on Canada's Strategy for Satellite Earth Observation, developed in consultation with the public and private sectors, academia and Indigenous communities. This strategy charts a course for leveraging satellite technologies to better position Canada to address current and future social, economic and environmental priorities.
