COSMOS 1970 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-1970, is a navigation satellite launched on September 16, 1988, from the TYSMC launch site using the Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. This Uragan bus-based spacecraft has a configuration of 3-Axis stabilized and was manufactured by OAZ for the Soviet Union (SU). The satellite measures 4 meters in length, with a diameter of 1.5 meters and a span of 7.8 meters. It had a dry mass of 1200 kilograms and launched with a total mass of 1300 kilograms. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply, its purpose is navigation. The spacecraft has a shape described as Cyl + Ant + 2 Pan and an RCS (Reflective Coefficient Surface) value of 1.4365. Its mission lifetime was planned for 3 years.
