The COSMOS 2023 [GLONASS], also known as Kosmos-2023, is a navigation satellite launched on May 31, 1989, from the TYMSC launch site using the Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. The spacecraft measures 4 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and spans 7.8 meters when its components are extended. It has a dry mass of 1200 kg and was launched with a total mass of 1300 kg. The satellite is equipped with two deployable solar arrays for power generation, along with batteries. Its structure consists of a cylindrical body combined with antennas and two panels. The Uragan No. 29L payload is onboard, contributing to navigation purposes. The satellites operational lifetime was expected to be three years. It was manufactured by OAZ in the Soviet Union (SU) under the BUS designation as Uragan and follows a 3-Axis stabilized configuration.
