MOLNIYA 1-86, also known as Molniya-1, is a communication satellite launched by VKS on May 26, 1993, from the PLMSC launch site using a Molniya 8K78M launch vehicle at LC43/4. The spacecraft has dimensions of 4.4 meters in length and 1.4 meters in diameter, with a span of 8.6 meters and a dry mass of 1,620 kilograms. It is configured as KAUR-2 and operates on a Molniya-1T bus manufactured by NPOPM. The satellites power system consists of six deployable solar arrays and batteries, while its propulsion is provided by the KDU-414A (S5.114) motor. MOLNIYA 1-86 has an expected lifetime of three years and was launched with a mass of 1,670 kilograms. Its shape includes a cylindrical body plus six panels.
