MOLNIYA 1-87, also known as Molniya-1T, is a communication satellite launched on December 22, 1993, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome (LC43/3) using the Molniya 8K78M launch vehicle. It was manufactured by NPOPM and operated under VKS ownership. The satellite has dimensions of 4.4 meters in length, 1.4 meters in diameter, and an 8.6-meter span, with a dry mass of 1620 kilograms and a launch mass of 1670 kilograms. It is powered by six deployable solar arrays and batteries and features a cylindrical plus cone shape with six panels. The satellites mission was for communication purposes and had a lifetime of three years.
