MOLNIYA 3-47, also known as Molniya-3 No. 59, is a communication satellite that was launched on August 9, 1995, from the PLMSC launch site at LC43/3 using the Molniya 8K78M launch vehicle. It belongs to the VKS/GPKS and has dimensions of 3.6 meters in length, 1.6 meters in diameter, and a span of 8.1 meters. The satellites dry mass is 1700 kg with an initial launch mass of 1750 kg. Its power system consists of six deployable solar arrays (1000 W) and batteries. MOLNIYA 3-47 was manufactured by NPOPMR and is equipped with a KDU-414A (S5.114) or 11D414NS motor. The satellites shape is described as cylindrical with six panels, featuring an RCS of 13.19. It was designed for a three-year lifetime mission in communication purposes and follows the Molniya-3 bus configuration known as KAUR-2.
