ORBCOMM FM04, also known as Orbcomm G2, is a communication satellite launched on February 10, 1998, from Vandenberg Air Force Base using the Taurus 2210 launch vehicle. The spacecraft has dimensions of 0.2 meters in length and a diameter of 1 meter with a span of 4.3 meters due to its solar arrays. It weighs 42 kilograms at launch and is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power generation. ORBCOMM FM04 was designed for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) communication services, manufactured by OSCG, and owned by ORBC. The satellites operational lifetime was expected to be 4 years from its launch date.
