ORBCOMM FM22 is a communication satellite (MicroStar configuration) owned by ORBCOMM and operated for Machine-to-Machine (M2M)/IoT communications. Launched on September 23, 1998, from the Eastern Range Air Site (ERAS), it was deployed using the Pegasus XL/HAPS launch vehicle from Launch Pad RW04/22. The satellite has a length of 0.2 meters, a diameter of 1 meter, and a span of 4.3 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. It weighs 42 kilograms both at launch and dry mass. Its equipment includes an Orbcomm payload, powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellites shape is described as cylindrical with two panels and antennas attached. With a radar cross-section (RCS) of 0.544 square meters, it was manufactured by OSCG and has a projected lifetime of four years.
