ORBCOMM FM27, also known as Orbcomm C7, is a communication satellite for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) purposes launched by the US on September 23, 1998, from ERAS using a Pegasus XL/HAPS launch vehicle. The spacecraft measures 0.2 meters in length with a diameter of 1 meter and spans 4.3 meters when its deployable solar arrays are extended. It has a dry mass of 42 kilograms and is equipped with batteries for power storage. ORBCOMM FM27 was manufactured by OSCG and is owned by ORBC, carrying an Orbcomm payload designed for communication purposes. The satellites shape consists of a cylinder with two panels and antennas. Its mission lifetime is estimated at 4 years.
