ORBCOMM FM28, also known as Orbcomm C8, is a MicroStar configuration satellite owned by ORBC and manufactured by OSCG. It was launched on September 23, 1998, from ERAS using the Pegasus XL/HAPS launch vehicle from pad RW04/22. The satellite has dimensions of 0.2 meters in length, 1 meter in diameter, and a span of 4.3 meters, with a dry mass of 42 kilograms. Its primary mission is communication M2M/IoT, and it carries an Orbcomm payload for this purpose. It is powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellites shape consists of a cylinder with two panels and antennas, with a radar cross-section (RCS) of 1.0059 square meters. Its designed lifetime was four years from its launch date.
