GLOBALSTAR M023 is a communication satellite launched on February 9, 1999, from the TYMSC launch site using the Soyuz-U-PVB launch vehicle. It has dimensions of 1.5 meters in length and 0.6 meters in diameter with a span of 12 meters. The satellite was manufactured by LOR (Lockheed Martin) for the owner GLOBT (Globalstar). Its dry mass is 380 kilograms, and it had a launch mass of 450 kilograms. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries to provide power, GLOBALSTAR M023s mission was to support communication purposes. It operated as part of the Globalstar constellation, carrying the payload Globalstar FM23. The satellite has a configuration known as LS-400 and uses an AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control System) for orientation control. Its lifetime was projected to be 7.5 years from its launch date.
