Launched on July 16, 2000, from SLC17A at AFETR using a Delta 7925-9.5 launch vehicle, it has dimensions of 1.5 meters in length and 1.9 meters in diameter with a span of 19.3 meters. The satellites dry mass is 910 kilograms, and its launch mass was 1077 kilograms. It powers itself using two deployable solar arrays and batteries. NAVSTAR 48 has a box shape with two panels, a motor type of Star 37XFP, and an RCS value of 5.24. The satellites mission is navigation, and it carries the GPS SVN 44 payload as part of its purpose for navigation services. Its operational lifetime was projected to be ten years from launch date.
