XM-3 (RHYTHM) is a communication satellite identified by NORAD CAT ID 28626 and OBJECT ID 2005-008A, manufactured by BOES using the BSS-702HP bus configuration. Launched on March 1, 2005, from Sea Launch (SEAL) with a Zenit-3SL launch vehicle, it has dimensions of 7 meters in length and 3.3 meters in diameter, with a span of 40.4 meters due to its solar arrays. At launch, XM-3 had a mass of 4682 kg and operated for a designed lifetime of 15 years. The satellite is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power generation, along with equipment including 13.3 kW digital audio radio and two active S-band transponders, each featuring 16 active (with 6 spares) 228 W TWTAs. XM-3s purpose was to provide communication services for XM Radio-3, operated by XMR. The satellite has a box shape with two panels, an RCS of 14.4177, and is stabilized using R-4D-11-300 motors.
