The COSMOS 2424 [GLONASS-M], also known as Kosmos-2426, is a navigation satellite launched on December 25, 2006, from the TYMSC launch site using a Proton-K/DM-2 launch vehicle. With dimensions of 4 meters in length and 1.5 meters in diameter, it has a span of 7.8 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. The satellite carries a dry mass of 1200 kg and had a launch mass of 1450 kg. It is based on the 3-Axis stabilized Uragan-M bus design and was manufactured by RESH for KVR/IACG. Its mission is to provide navigation services as part of the GLONASS constellation, with its operational lifetime planned for seven years. The satellites power system includes two deployable solar arrays and batteries.
