GALAXY 17 (G-17), also known as Galaxy 17, is a communication satellite manufactured by THALES for INTELD and launched on May 4, 2007, from the ELA3 launch pad at the FRGUI site using an Ariane 5ECA launch vehicle. It has a dry mass of 1,750 kg and was equipped with 24 Ku-band and 24 C-band transponders for communication purposes. The satellite measures 3.8 meters in length, 1.8 meters in diameter, and spans 36.9 meters when its solar arrays are deployed. It is powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. With a designed lifetime of 15 years, GALAXY 17 was launched with an initial mass of 4,107 kg and has a shape described as Box + 2 Pan with a radar cross-section (RCS) of 12.6832 square meters.
