The satellite FM-5 (Sirius FM-5) is owned by SIRX and operated for communication purposes specifically for direct radio broadcasting under the payload Sirius CD Radio 5. Launched on June 30, 2009, from the TYMSC launch site using a Proton-M/Briz-M launch vehicle from Launch Pad LC200/39, FM-5 has dimensions of 5.2 meters in length and 5.6 meters in diameter with a span of 24.8 meters. The satellite is based on the SSL-1300 configuration manufactured by LOR (Lockheed Martin), weighs approximately 5820 kg at launch, and has a dry mass of 2900 kg. It is equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply, and its equipment includes a single X/S-band transponder. FM-5s mission lifetime is projected to be 15 years.
