GLOBALSTAR M079 is a communication satellite launched on October 19, 2010, from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center (TYMSC) using a Soyuz-2-1A launch vehicle. It has a length of 4 meters and a diameter of 2 meters with a span of 12 meters, weighing approximately 715 kg at launch and 500 kg dry mass. Equipped with 16 C-to-S-band transponders and 16 L-to-C-band transponders, it is designed for communication purposes. The satellite features two deployable solar arrays generating a power of 2.4 kW (at beginning of life) and 1.7 kW (at end of life), along with batteries for energy storage. Manufactured by THALR, the satellite uses an LS-400 AOCS motor for attitude control and has a projected lifetime of 15 years.
