SES-5 is a communication satellite with NORAD catalog ID 38652 and OBJECT_ID 2012-036A, built on the SSL-1300 bus by LOR (Lockheed Martin). Launched on July 9, 2012, from Tyuratam Space Center using a Proton-M/Briz-M launch vehicle from LC81/24, it has dimensions of 7 meters in length and 2.4 meters in diameter with a span of 27 meters. It features 2 deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply. The satellite is equipped with 24 C-band transponders, 36 Ku-band transponders, and includes EGNOS GEO-1 payload. Its dry mass is 4000 kg, and it had a launch mass of 6007 kg.
