IRIDIUM 106, also known as Iridium Next SV106, is a communication and traffic monitoring satellite operated by IRIDS (Iridium LLC). Launched on January 14, 2017, from AFWTR using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle from SLC4E, the satellite was manufactured by OATKGA. It measures 3.1 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters and a span of 9.4 meters. The spacecraft has a dry mass of 700 kilograms and a launch mass of 860 kilograms. Equipped with L-band payload, Ka-band cross-links, and downlinks, it also carries ADS-B payload and AIS-receiver technology. Its power system includes two deployable solar arrays and batteries. Designed for a ten-year lifetime with plans for up to fifteen years, the satellites shape is described as a half hexagonal prism with two panels, having an RCS of 2.8038 square meters.
