The satellite IRIDIUM 109 (also known as Iridium Next SV109) was launched on January 14, 2017, from AFWTR SLC4E using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle. It is owned by IRIDS and manufactured by OATKGA for communication and traffic monitoring purposes. The satellite has dimensions of 3.1 meters in length, 1.5 meters in diameter, and spans 9.4 meters. Its dry mass is 700 kg with a launch mass of 860 kg. It features an L-band payload, Ka-band cross-links and downlinks, and ADS-B and AIS-receiver payloads (on 58 satellites). The satellites power source consists of two deployable solar arrays and batteries. Its design life is projected to be up to 15 years with a configuration known as ELiTeBus-1000.
