IRIDIUM 153, also known as Iridium Next SV153, is a communication and traffic monitoring satellite owned by IRIDS (Iridium LLC) and manufactured by OATKGA. Launched on December 23, 2017, from AFWTR SLC4E using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle, it has a design lifetime of 10 years with plans for a 15-year operational period. The satellite measures 3.1 meters in length and 1.5 meters in diameter, with a span of 9.4 meters, weighing 860 kg at launch and 700 kg dry mass. It is equipped with a L-band payload, Ka-band cross-links, downlinks, an ADS-B payload, and an AIS-receiver (part of a fleet of 58 satellites). Its power source includes two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellites shape is described as a half hexagonal prism plus two panels.
