Additional information INS-1C

An interstellar object is an astronomical object (such as an asteroid, a comet, or a rogue planet, but not a star) that is located in interstellar space and is not gravitationally bound to a star. The term interstellar interloper can be applied to objects that are on an interstellar trajectory but are temporarily passing close to a star, such as certain asteroids and comets (including exocomets).
The first interstellar object to be discovered in the Solar System was 1I/?Oumuamua in 2017. The second was 2I/Borisov in 2019. They both have significant hyperbolic excess velocity proving they did not originate in the Solar System. In addition ?Oumuamua has an orbital eccentricity of about 1.2 and Borisov has an orbital eccentricity of about 3.3, proving neither is gravitationally bound to the Sun.
