IRIDIUM 157 (also known as Iridium Next SV157) is a communication and traffic monitoring satellite launched on March 30, 2018, from the AFWTR SLC4E launch pad using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle. It was manufactured by OATKGA for IRIDS and features an EliteBus configuration known as ELiTeBus-1000. The satellite measures 3.1 meters in length with a diameter of 1.5 meters, span of 9.4 meters, and has a dry mass of 700 kg. It carries various payloads including L-band payload, Ka-band cross-links, downlinks, ADS-B payload, and AIS-receiver technology. Equipped with two deployable solar arrays and batteries for power, its shape is characterized as a half hexagonal prism plus two panes. The designed lifetime of the satellite is 10 years, with plans for an extended life up to 15 years.
