IRIDIUM 162 (also known as Iridium Next SV162) is a communication and traffic monitoring satellite owned by IRIDS and manufactured by OATKGA. Launched on May 22, 2018, from AFWTR SLC4E using the Falcon 9 launch vehicle, it has a configuration of ELiTeBus-1000 with dimensions of 3.1 meters in length, 1.5 meters in diameter, and spans 9.4 meters. The satellites dry mass is 700 kg, with a launch mass of 860 kg. It is equipped with L-band payload, Ka-band cross-links, Ka-band downlinks, ADS-B payload, and AIS-receiver (part of the equipment on 58 satellites). Its power comes from two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellites mission lifetime is designed for 10 years but planned to extend up to 15 years.
