IRIDIUM 156, also known as Iridium Next SV156, is a communication and traffic monitoring satellite operated by IRIDS (Iridium LLC). Launched on July 25, 2018, from AFWTR Launch Site at SLC4E using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle, the satellite has dimensions of 3.1 meters in length, 1.5 meters in diameter, and spans 9.4 meters. The spacecraft features a configuration called ELiTeBus-1000 by manufacturer NGISGA. Its dry mass is 700 kg with a total launch mass of 860 kg. Equipped with L-band payload, Ka-band cross-links, Ka-band downlinks, ADS-B payload, and an AIS-receiver, it was designed for a lifespan of 10 years but planned to operate for up to 15 years. The satellite is powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. Its shape is described as a half hex prism with two panels, and it does not specify color or material composition details.
