BEIDOU-3 M16, also known as Beidou DW 40, is a navigation satellite operated by CNSA (China National Space Administration). It was launched on October 15, 2018, from Xichang Satellite Launch Centers LC3 launch pad using the Chang Zheng 3B/YZ-1 launch vehicle. The spacecraft measures 2.2 meters in length and has a diameter of 1.7 meters with a span of 10 meters. It has a dry mass of 850 kilograms and a launch mass of 1014 kilograms. BEIDOU-3 M16 is equipped with 2 deployable solar arrays and batteries for power supply. The satellites shape is described as Box + 2 Pan and it was manufactured by SECM (State Key Laboratory of Satellite Navigation Technology & Engineering). Its mission is to provide navigation services, with an expected operational lifetime of 12 years.
