BEIDOU-3 M17, also known as Beidou DW 42, is a navigation satellite manufactured by CAST and owned by CNSA. Launched on November 18, 2018, from Xichang Satellite Launch Center (XICLF) using the Chang Zheng 3B/YZ-1 launch vehicle, it has a dry mass of 850 kg and a launch mass of 1014 kg. The satellite measures 2.2 meters in length, 1.7 meters in diameter, and has a span of 10 meters due to its solar arrays. Its design includes a box shape with two panels for the solar arrays, powered by deployable solar arrays and batteries. With an expected lifetime of 12 years, BEIDOU-3 M17 is part of Chinas Beidou satellite navigation system.
