Launched on January 11, 2019, from AFWTR SLC4E using a Falcon 9 launch vehicle, this spacecraft has a configuration of ELiTeBus-1000 with dimensions measuring 3.1 meters in length, 1.5 meters in diameter, and spans 9.4 meters. It carries an L-band payload, Ka-band cross-links, downlinks, and ADS-B payload along with AIS-receivers on board. The satellite is designed for a lifetime of 10 years but plans extend its operation up to 15 years. Its primary mission involves communication and traffic monitoring, powered by two deployable solar arrays and batteries. The dry mass of IRIDIUM 168 is 700 kg, with an initial launch mass of 860 kg.
