Additional information ONEWEB-0436

OneWeb is a network of telecommunications satellites that provide high-bandwidth, low-latency Internet access services to commercial, institutional and public sector customers. The system is managed by the British government, Eutelsat and the Bharti Enterprises investment fund. OneWeb is soon to be absorbed as part of a merger by European telecommunications giant Eutelsat.

Each of the first-generation OneWeb satellites weighs 147 kg. The ships are based on the Arrow satellite platform, produced by OneWeb Satellites together with Airbus. The satellites' telecommunications payload consists of two Ku-band and Ka-band antennas. The Ku band is used for satellites to communicate with recipients, and Ka band antennas allow connection to terrestrial stations. Each of them is to operate for 7 years.
