The satellite COSMOS 2501 [GLONASS-K], also known as Kosmos-2501, is a Russian navigation satellite launched on November 30, 2014, from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome using a Soyuz-2-1B launch vehicle. It was designed and manufactured by RESH (Russian Research Institute of Space Systems) with an Ekspress-1000K bus configuration characterized as 3-axis stabilized with two solar arrays. The satellites dimensions include a length of 2 meters, diameter of 1 meter, and span of 5 meters. At launch, it had a mass of 974 kilograms and was expected to have an operational lifetime of 10 years. Its primary payload is the Uragan-K1 No. 12L navigation system, providing power through deployable solar arrays and batteries. The satellites owner is VVKO/IACG (Russian Ministry of Defense), and it operates for navigation purposes.
